Led product envisioning, solutioning, design, and product development, and was a key member of the business development effort on a multi-year engagement for a global intelligent transportation systems services company. The system is a business services (and software as a service) offering built to service municipalities, around the world, to centrally manage smart parking operations and enforcement.
The engagement included more than 40 on and off-shore consultants along with the services companies innovation, technology, and operations staff along with LA DOT. The design and architecture of the parking management system allowed LA to achieve and exceed program goals. The initiative is described on the LA Express Park website here.
See a video (here) featuring, LA Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa and others describing the LA Express Park program.
Key features of the system include variable (or dynamic) pricing for parking which increases when demand is high and decrease when demand is low optimizing parking availability, making finding parking easier and reduce pollution by getting millions of drivers to available parking near their destination quickly. This is all made possible by integrating smart parking meters and sensors, dynamic neighborhood signs, and mobile applications, managed centrally by LA’s parking operations center.
